The Cooper Foundation is excited to announce new research funding opportunities for Cooper University Health Care investigators. Last year\u2019s awardees are well under way with their research programs.<\/p>\n

In order to support research in diverse areas, funding will be available in four different categories:<\/p>\n

1. Early Stage Cooper Investigator<\/strong>. Grants up to $25,000 are available to fund research by Early Stage Cooper Investigators. An Early Stage Investigator is an investigator who has completed his or her medical residency or doctorate within the past 10 years and has not yet been awarded or been a co-investigator on a substantial, competitive federal research grant. Senior faculty may serve in the role of mentor but may not be co-investigators or be integral to the conduct of the research study. The explicit intent of this funding is to allow early stage investigators to collect sufficient data in order to prepare and submit a competitive proposal to extramural funding agencies. The budget cannot exceed $25,000, but investigators with budgets under $15,000 are encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n

2. Infectious Disease Research.<\/strong> Grants up to $25,000 will be awarded to support research in the area of infectious disease. Investigators with budgets under $15,000 are encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n

3. Simulation Research.<\/strong> Grants up to $25,000 will be awarded to support simulation research. This may include, for example, research involving computer-operated mannequins, simulated patients or virtual reality. Investigators with budgets under $15,000 are encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n

4. Unrestricted Research.<\/strong> Grants up to $25,000 are available to fund Cooper investigators without restriction to any specific research area. While investigators currently receiving NIH funding are not ineligible for this award, preference will be given to those who do not have any current research funding. Investigators with budgets under $15,000 are encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n
