Dr. Watson provides psychiatric evaluation and treatment to persons dealing with a wide range of emotional difficulties that may range from mild to severe impairment of a person\u2019s ability to function socially or occupationally. He will provide some insight on expert psychiatric consultations in a wide range of legal settings.<\/p>\n
Psychiatry Grand Rounds: Murder, Psychiatry, and the Law Clarence Watson, JD, MD,\u00a0is the Acting Substance Abuse and Mental Health Division Director for Delaware Health and Social Services. Dr. Watson is the Director of the Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship Program at the University of Pennsylvania-Perelman School of Medicine, where he also serves as Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry. He maintains a private forensic psychiatry consultation practice in Bala Cynwyd, PA. Dr. Watson received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College and his law degree from Villanova University School of Law.\u00a0Prior to his practice as a physician, he practiced law in Pennsylvania.\u00a0He completed medical internship training in internal medicine and medical residency training in psychiatry at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia and fellowship training in forensic psychiatry at\u00a0St. Vincent\u2019s Hospital-New York Medical College in Manhattan. Dr. Watson is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in general psychiatry and forensic psychiatry and is a member of the American Psychiatric Association.<\/p>\n The learner objectives<\/u><\/strong> for this activity are to improve diagnostic skills, increase knowledge of all psychiatric disorders, and discuss recent advances in all areas of psychiatry, psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, and evaluative techniques.<\/p>\n The intended audience<\/u><\/strong> for this activity includes psychiatrists and psychologists. Other health care professionals including physicians from other disciplines, residents, medical students, nurses, therapists, and social workers may also participate.<\/p>\n The Cooper Health System is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
