By actively learning how to spot and report potentially dangerous phishing emails, we can keep our organization safe.<\/p>\n<p>Phishing emails have proven an effective method for hackers to gain unauthorized access to organizations\u2019 computer networks. Phishing emails attempt to trick employees into clicking an infected link or attachment, or visiting legitimate-looking websites and entering information that allows the hacker to break into the network.<\/p>\n<p>Phishing emails are very common and pose a unique threat because they are customized to get past the best technical prevention controls.<\/p>\n<p><strong>According to industry experts, 91 percent of all data breaches start with a phishing email. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To help prevent these types of attacks and educate Cooper employees on how to handle a potential breach, we are launching the Phishing Awareness Program.<\/p>\n<p>Over the next few months, employees will periodically receive simulated phishing emails that imitate real attacks. The simulated emails are designed to help you recognize the tactics used in real phishing attacks so that you will be able to better recognize potential threats.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you receive a suspicious email, report it to Cooper IT at <\/strong><a href=\"mailto:spam-alert@cooperhealth.edu\">spam-alert@cooperhealth.edu<\/a><strong> immediately.<\/strong> Please don\u2019t simply delete or ignore the phishing email. Help warn other Cooper employees who are likely to receive the same email attack.
