Those nearest to someone with life-threatening injuries are best positioned to provide immediate care if they are equipped with the appropriate training and resources. No matter how rapid the arrival of professional emergency responders, bystanders will always be first on the scene. Stop the Bleed is a national campaign to provide training so that bystanders are able to act as immediate responders.<\/p>\n<p>Cooper\u2019s Trauma Outreach has an ongoing series of classes that anyone is welcome to attend. In honor of National Stop the Bleed Day on <strong>Saturday, March 31, 2018<\/strong>, two classes are being held in the community\u2014one will be at the Antioch Baptist Church in Camden and the other will be at The Ripa Center for Women\u2019s Health and Wellness at Cooper in Voorhees. <a href=\"http:\/\/events.cooperhealth.org\/event\/community-health-seminars\/stop-the-bleed\"><strong>Click here<\/strong><\/a><strong> to register online for these two classes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In addition, Cooper educators are available to take the program to community groups and businesses \u2013 please contact the educators via email at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:StopTheBleed@cooperhealth.edu\">StopTheBleed@cooperhealth.edu<\/a>\u00a0to request the program be held at your location.<\/p>\n<p>The Bleeding Control for the Injured (B-Con) program is a two-hour course that teaches non-clinical laypersons how to apply tourniquets, pack a wound, and open a victim\u2019s airway.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBleeding to death is preventable,\u201d says Brian Collins, EMS Outreach Coordinator at Cooper. \u201cWith B-Con training, countless lives will have a fighting chance at survival.
