Dyslexia is a learning disability that causes difficulties with reading, writing, and spelling. Students with dyslexia can effectively learn with appropriate educational interventions and teaching methods tailored to their specific learning disability. According to some experts, up to 15 percent of the population has dyslexia and related disorders.<\/p>\n

The Cooper Learning Center at Children\u2019s Regional Hospital at Cooper will examine this important topic at their fifth annual Dyslexia and Language-Related Disabilities Conference: \u201cFacets of Dyslexia.\u201d This conference is designed to be educational, practical, and interactive for professionals as well as parents. There will be an array of workshops ranging from practical classroom applications to developing behavioral strategies and techniques to help the struggling student.<\/p>\n

The keynote speaker is Jamie Martin, an assistive technology consultant and trainer, who specializes in finding assistive technology tools for students and adults with dyslexia. In addition, more than a dozen national and regional experts will share their knowledge and experiences about dyslexia and language-related disabilities. Access to the exhibitors\u2019 hall and lunch are included in the conference. The cost to attend is $125.<\/p>\n
