High-reliability organizations are designed to form a teamwork-based safety culture that ensures inevitable human mistakes do not lead to patient or employee harm.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To become an HRO,<\/strong> Cooper <u>must <\/u>have <strong>all Cooper employees and providers complete an in-person, organization-wide training by the end of 2020.<\/strong> The New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA) has developed a standardized, statewide, three-hour course to provide a foundation of basic patient safety principles and educate staff on best practices.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Register now and schedule your training session by\u00a0visiting the <a href=\"http:\/\/lsglm700.learnsoft.com\/lsglm\/login\/cooperlogin.aspx\">Cooper Learning Network<\/a> and search for \u201cHigh Reliability Organization (HRO) Staff and Physician Training.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Cooper has already begun to implement a number of patient safety best practices endorsed by the NJHA, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Daily safety huddles led by senior leadership to discuss safety and patient care needs and address operational issues.<\/li>\n<li>Standardized review, tracking, and reporting of organizational safety events.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To increase awareness and prevent future patient harm, all patient safety incidents should be entered into <a href=\"http:\/\/rlweb01.chsmail.root.cooperhealth.edu\/RL6_Prod\/Homecenter\/\">EARS<\/a>, Cooper\u2019s event reporting system.
