Be prepared to answer questions and to demonstrate through practice that you follow the policies and procedures of Cooper University Health Care.<\/p>\n<p>Own Your Area<br \/>\nYou are empowered to make the difference in your work area.<\/p>\n<p>First Impressions Count<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Look sharp.<\/li>\n<li>Is your area ready for our guests?<\/li>\n<li>Welcome the team.<\/li>\n<li>Use your patient-relations skills to the fullest.<\/li>\n<li>Exhibit pride in your department and the organization.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain eye contact.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tips for Talking With Surveyors<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The most important advice is to answer only the question you are asked.<\/li>\n<li>Expect standard, related questions involving patient safety, environmental safety, staffing quantity and competency, performance improvement, patient rights, and infection control.<\/li>\n<li>Think carefully before answering the question and take time to consider what the surveyor is looking for. Ask the surveyor to repeat or restate the question if you don\u2019t understand.<\/li>\n<li>Be honest. <strong>If you don\u2019t know the answer, don\u2019t guess!<\/strong> Tell the surveyor how you can get the answer. In most cases you can ask your manager.<\/li>\n<li>Watch your use of words such as \u201cusually,\u201d \u201csupposed to,\u201d and \u201csometimes,\u201d which lead the surveyors to question why we do not consistently follow our procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Present material succinctly and clearly. Give specific examples. Don\u2019t make excuses or be defensive.<\/li>\n<li>Know how to quickly find documentation to support your response.<\/li>\n<li>Emphasize teamwork! Don\u2019t allow one person to do all the talking. Do not contradict in front of each other.<\/li>\n<li>Respect the time constraints of the surveyor. Be prepared to hit the highlights.<\/li>\n<li>Ask the surveyor his\/her opinion or for suggestions. They have visited many organizations and have seen a lot.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Do not provide any documentation such as policies, procedures, guidelines, etc., to surveyors.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All requests for documentation are to be sent to the regulatory team.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The key to a successful survey is you!
