Phillip Dellinger, MD, FCCM, FCCP, Professor of Medicine at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, edited the just released comprehensive critical care textbook for medical professionals \u2013 <strong>Critical Care Medicine: Principles of Diagnosis and Management in the Adult, 5th edition, <\/strong>published by Elsevier. The textbook was edited in partnership with Joseph E. Parrillo, MD, Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine at Seton Hall University, and expands upon traditional intensive care unit practice to the many specialty multi-specialty physician and other health care providers who care for patients in the critical care setting. Dr. Dellinger also co-edited the 2<sup>nd<\/sup>, 3<sup>rd<\/sup>, and 4<sup>th<\/sup> edition of this textbook. The textbook has 78 topic-oriented chapters and more than 140 authors from around the world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am really proud of this edition and especially gratified by the contributions of my peers at Cooper,\u201d said Dr. Dellinger. \u201cOf the contributors to the textbook, 38 were physicians and faculty of Cooper University Health Care and Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. These physicians are experts in their fields and perform at the top of their profession.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The volume is a worldwide top-selling critical care textbook and will serve as a leading reference for physicians practicing in a critical care setting. The textbook is published in both hard copy and electronic web-based versions. It provides practical, evidence-based guidance to effectively manage common complications in the ICU\u00a0including severe sepsis, septic shock, surgical infections, neurogenic and anaphylactic shock, severe heart failure, acute coronary syndromes, and acute respiratory distress syndrome. In addition, it provides in-depth coverage of recent advances in bedside critical care, in particular bedside ultrasound and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.
