Occupational therapy is a health and rehabilitation profession. Occupational therapists (OTs) and certified occupational therapy assistants (COTAs) help people of all ages to improve their ability to perform tasks in their daily living and working environments. They work with individuals who have conditions that are mentally, physically, developmentally, socially, or emotionally disabling. Occupational therapists use the “occupations” of self-care, work, play, and leisure activities to increase independence, enhance development, and\/or prevent disability. To achieve these goals occupational therapists may also adapt the task or the environment.<\/p>\n
