Did you know that we have a Lab Utilization committee that is tasked with reviewing current lab utilization practices as well as any requests for new services? This is a multidisciplinary, physician driven team, that reports up to Utilization Management (and ultimately the Medical Executive Committee) that is tasked with a comprehensive review of any request, including performance characteristics, supporting evidence, costs, and appropriate utilization. The group reviews any new lab testing: inpatient, outpatient, or point of care.
