Sundance film festival short video

“When was the last time you cried?” A 10 minute documentary video presented in the Sundance film festival asks this question. It follows a man from Japan who started crying classes. The culture of stoicism in Japan is very similar to the medical culture where there is often an unspoken expectation that showing emotion is a sign of weakness. Through GME Wellness, we have hosted laughing sessions but the value of crying may be underappreciated. It is incredibly important to express and let go of the emotion and stress that we carry with us, not just as physicians, but just as people. The tears open us up.
