Hyaluronic Acid News

A recent article in the journal of Dermatologic Surgery by Dr. Amy Taub, et al, assessed the amount of improvement seen after injection with multiple syringes of hyaluronic acid ( i.e. restylane, juvederm, perlane).  The objective of the study was to see how much younger 10 patients appeared after having 6-8 syringes of hyaluronic acid injected into various areas on the face like the cheeks, under the eyes, nasolabial folds, and the chin. All of the patients were evaluated by dermatologists and reported their own perception of improvement in age. Both the dermatologist and the patient reported that the treated patients looked 6-9 years younger after injections at their 2-4 week follow up visits. This article supports the idea that the aging face is a result of volume loss and by treating it with multiple syringes of hyaluronic acid, one can achieve a much younger facial appearance.
