Winter Sun Protection

Winter SunWinter Sun Protection

Many people assume that sun protection is only an important concern in the summer; however, winter sun can be just as damaging to your skin.  Using a broad-spectrum sunscreen on all exposed areas can be just as important in the winter, particularly if you are involved in winter sports.  Those who spend time at higher altitudes or in snowy areas are at particular risk of sun damage from ultraviolet (UV) radiation that may lead to skin cancer.  UV intensity increases with altitude, and snow reflects UV rays from the sun leading to double doses of UV radiation even on cloudy days.
