(Camden, New Jersey) Cooper University Hospital Breast Imaging Centers located in Voorhees, Cherry Hill, and Camden, N.J., were recently designated “Center’s of Excellence” by the American College of Radiology. These are the only hospital-based breast imaging centers in South Jersey to receive such a distinguished designation.
“There is no better way to defend yourself from breast cancer than by getting the best possible screenings,” said Lydia Liao, Director of Women’s Imaging in the Department of Radiology at Cooper University Hospital. “We offer patients the latest techniques and continue to be involved in research that looks at the best options for cancer detection.”
Cooper is one of only 12 accredited imaging centers in New Jersey to earn this distinction. The centers achieved full accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy after peer-review evaluations. These were conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field.
The American College of Radiology is a national, professional organization serving more than 32,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians and medical physicists.
The Cooper Imaging Center at Voorhees offers state-of-the-art breast screening and diagnostic technologies including digital mammography; computer-aided detection system; breast ultrasound; vacuum-assisted, core, breast biopsy with stereotactic or ultrasound guidance and MRI scans and MRI-guided breast biopsy.
“This designation refers to the quality and safety of our program, and we are very proud of this achievement,” said Raymond L. Baraldi, M.D., Acting Chief Medical Officer and Chief of the Department of Radiology at Cooper.
