(Camden, New Jersey) Joseph V. Lombardi, M.D., joins the Department of Surgery at Cooper as the new Head of Vascular Surgery. He is a prominent vascular surgeon with expertise in minimally invasive endovascular therapy. Dr. Lombardi, is pioneering the treatment of thoracic aortic dissection with endovascular grafts and stents. He serves as Global Principal Investigator for the STABLE trial, investigating the use of endovascular therapy to treat complicated Type B Thoracic Aortic Dissection.

Dr. Lombardi serves as an international speaker on thoracic aortic dissection and has many peer reviewed publications, book chapters and awards for his research studies. In addition, Dr. Lombardi is the principal investigator for several minimally invasive clinical trials treating lower extremity arterial disease as well as carotid stenosis. Most recently, Dr. Lombardi was on the staff as a vascular surgeon at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital where he was the Director of the Jefferson Aortic Center and Chief of Vascular Surgery at Methodist Hospital.
Dr. Lombardi received his medical degree in 1996 from Jefferson Medical College and trained in a surgical residency at Pennsylvania Hospital. He was awarded a research fellowship in vascular gene therapy at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where he completed his specialization in vascular surgery and endovascular therapy. Dr Lombardi is board certified in general surgery and vascular surgery.
