Cooper University Hospital and the Cooper Cancer Institute are proud to announce that Evelyn Robles-Rodriguez, RN, MSN, APN-C, AOCN, Advanced Practice Nurse for the Division of Hematology/Medical Oncology and Director of the Oncology Outreach Programs, has been selected by the American Cancer Society (ACS) – South/Central New Jersey Chapter as the honoree at their upcoming Celebration of Hope event.
The ACS recognizes Evelyn as a local hero and will honor her for her outstanding accomplishments as a crusader in the war against cancer. In addition to providing care for patients within the Division of Hematology/Medical Oncology, Evelyn leads the cancer outreach team in educating the community about cancer prevention, detection and treatment. The outreach team also provides thousands of screenings for breast, cervical, prostate and colorectal cancers each year through the Camden County Cancer Education and Early Detection Program.
Evelyn has also received numerous commendations from the community she serves and has been recognized by her peers as a leader in cancer outreach and education. In December 2003, she received an Outstanding Volunteer Award from the Living Beyond Breast Cancer Association; and in October 2004, a Service Award from the Association de Puertorriquenos en Marcha, Inc., for her outstanding community service.
“Evelyn is an exceptional individual who possesses superior leadership skills,” said Generosa Grana, M.D., and Director of the Cooper Cancer Institute. “She, and her outreach team, works to decrease the impact of cancer on the community focusing on early detection and treatment.”
Evelyn will be honored as part of the American Cancer Society’s Celebration of Hope event which will take place on Saturday, August 22, 2009, at the Camden River Sharks home game at Campbell’s Field, in Camden, N.J. 08103.
