12th Annual Cooper Norcross Run the Bridge Event Presented by AmeriHealth New Jersey Raises Most Funding Yet to Help Children With Disabilities

On Sunday morning, November 3, 2013, the historic Ben Franklin Bridge will close to allow more than five thousand runners and walkers to participate in this year’s Cooper Norcross Run the Bridge Event presented by AmeriHealth New Jersey. This year the event raised more than $412,000 and since 2001, has raised a staggering $2,718,247 for the school.

This unique 10K run and two-mile bridge walk—the largest in the tri-state area—benefits the Larc School, located in Bellmawr, N.J., serving students with a wide range of moderate to severe disabilities. This event enables Larc School to purchase items that truly help these children make great strides in learning how to speak, walk, and perform other daily activities. It also helps support an important sibling program.

“Cooper and the Norcross Foundation have proudly supported the Larc School for 12 years,” said George E. Norcross, III, Chairman of the Board at Cooper University Health Care. “The proceeds allow the purchase of items to assist students in adapting to life with new technology, after school programs and equipment for special feeding needs and mobility, and provides an atmosphere with the best learning and therapeutic experience.”

“Each year the Cooper Norcross Run the Bridge Event proves to be a rewarding experience,” said Judith L. Roman, president and CEO of AmeriHealth New Jersey. “AmeriHealth New Jersey is proud to support such an outstanding cause and commends the Larc School for its incredible dedication to children and families in our local community.”

“It has been amazing to watch the support for our school and the programs we provide for these children continue to grow each year through this Cooper Norcross Run the Bridge Event,” said Susan Weiner, Executive Director of Larc School. “Our sponsors, participants and volunteers always go above and beyond to make this an exciting day for everyone and from our children, we say thank you.”
