CHERRY HILL, NJ — The Recovery Village Cherry Hill at Cooper hosted a dedication ceremony for its FORTITUDE program, honoring the legacy of Francis Elmer Beach, father of New Jersey State Senator James “Jim” Beach, by acknowledging his contributions to both country and community. This ceremony recognized Francis Beach’s service in the United States Marine Corps and his commitment to supporting veterans, first responders, and their families. Senator Beach accepted this recognition on his father’s behalf.
“We are thrilled to celebrate Francis Beach’s legacy and the values he exemplified: honor, bravery, and community service,” said Heather Brown, site CEO of The Recovery Village Cherry Hill at Cooper. “This dedication not only pays tribute to him but also reinforces our commitment to empowering those who serve and protect our communities.”
As a Marine who saw combat in some of the most challenging battles of WWII, including Bougainville, Guadalcanal, and Iwo Jima, Beach returned home as a decorated veteran and Purple Heart recipient. He continued his legacy of service by volunteering with the Oaklyn Fire Co. and mentoring local youth as a baseball umpire. Francis Beach’s commitment to service lives on through those he impacted and his family. For these reasons, we’re dedicating our FORTITUDE program to him.
“The FORTITUDE program represents the courage and resilience of heroes like Private Beach,” said Josh Gold, chief operating officer for The Recovery Village. “We are proud to carry his legacy forward by providing a space where veterans and first responders can receive the specialized support they need.”
“Cooper is proud to partner with Advanced Recovery Systems (ARS) in this new program as part of Cooper’s ongoing commitment to providing specialized care for military personnel, veterans, and their families,” said George E. Norcross III, chairman of the Cooper University Health Care Board of Trustees, at the event. “Francis Beach was an extraordinary person – as a decorated veteran, Mr. Beach is the reason that all Americans enjoy the American Dream. As a community leader, he always gave back where he lived, worked, and raised his family. It is fitting that we honor him for all he did for our country and community.”
