(CAMDEN, NJ) — The American College of Cardiology has again recognized Cooper University Hospital for its expertise and commitment to treating patients undergoing transcatheter valve repair and replacement procedures. Cooper earned Transcatheter Valve Recertification following an evaluation of its multidisciplinary team structure, formalized training, shared decision-making practices, and registry performance. Cooper has been certified since 2020.
“Receiving ACC Transcatheter Valve Recertification is a tremendous honor and a reflection of the dedication, expertise, and collaboration of our entire structural heart team,” said Sajjad Sabir, MD, director of the Structural Heart Program and member physician of Cooper and Inspira Cardiac Care. “Every day, we are committed to delivering the highest level of evidence-based, patient-centered cardiovascular care, and this recognition reinforces the standards we hold ourselves to for our patients and community.”
The ACC’s Transcatheter Valve Certification is an external review and certification process that uses national clinical databases to monitor patient safety and real-world outcomes related to transcatheter valve therapies. Participation in established registries such as the STS/ACC TVT Registry is required for hospitals pursuing certification.
“Cooper has shown a strong commitment to delivering outstanding heart care to the South Jersey community,” said Steven B. Deitelzweig, MD, MMM, FACC, chair of the ACC Accreditation Management Board. “ACC Accreditation Services is proud to recognize Cooper with Transcatheter Valve Recertification.”
The certification applies established clinical measures to support decision-making and links process improvement to patient outcomes. Hospitals that achieve certification are better able to implement evidence-based practices, track performance metrics, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement in patient care.
The ACC offers U.S. and international hospitals like Cooper access to a comprehensive suite of cardiac accreditation services designed to optimize patient outcomes and support quality improvement across all areas of cardiac care, including transcatheter valve therapies.
