Free Training Courses Available for Physicians in the Use of Buprenorphine/Medicated-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for Opioid Use Disorder

As part of a grant from the New Jersey Department of Human Services, Cooper University Health Care in conjunction with Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine is offering free training courses for physicians, NPs and PAs on the use of Buprenorphine for the treatment of opioid use disorder.  The course — which is half live and half online — is designed to meet the requirement for a buprenorphine waiver (X-waiver) certification under the DATA 2000 federal law.

The session, taught by experienced physicians, will cover core content as well as practical information to connect patients to needed specialty care and social services.  In addition, ongoing mentoring and support for the treatment of substance abuse disorders will be available. The program is free of cost and includes all course materials, as well as complimentary breakfast, lunch, and Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits where applicable. For attendees who continue to obtain their X-waiver, a $750 honorarium is available.
