Landmark study aims to optimize emergency stroke care and improve outcomes for thousands of thrombectomy patients nationwide

Cooper University Health Care, in collaboration with the University of Iowa Health Care, has been awarded research funding by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) to support a large clinical trial comparing two triage strategies for guiding thrombectomy, a life-saving intervention for patients with large vessel occlusion (LVO) strokes, the most severe and disabling subtype of ischemic stroke. Blood Pressure Procedure Calms Overactive Nerves That Can Elevate Blood Pressure

Cooper and Inspira Cardiac Care now offers a new renal denervation (RDN) procedure for certain patients with high blood pressure. Clinicians at Cooper and Inspira Cardiac Care recently performed the first case using this new procedure at Cooper University Hospital in Camden.

The renal denervation (RDN) system, by Symplicity Spyral™, involves a minimally invasive procedure that targets nerves near the kidneys that can become overactive and cause high blood pressure. Read more.

Cooper University Health Care’s Innovation Center recently hosted the second Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) Hackathon, which included a pitch competition, an innovation showcase, and a reception. The showcase featured inventions from Cooper team members and collaborations with Rowan University, with posters and discussions from industry and state leaders.

(CAMDEN, NJ) Cooper University Health Care’s Center for Resuscitation Education and Community Engagement recently made its first community donation of an automated external defibrillator (AED), accompanied by training on the system, to the Little Rock Baptist Church in Camden. Supported by The Cooper Foundation, this initiative provided church leaders and members with hands-on cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) education, equipping them with essential lifesaving skills. (MOORESTOWN, NJ) — MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper has expanded its footprint in South Jersey with the opening of a new, state-of-the-art radiation oncology suite at the Cooper University Health Care Moorestown Campus. This marks the fifth MD Anderson at Cooper radiation oncology treatment location in the region, bringing advanced cancer care close to home for more patients.

Equipped with cutting-edge technology, the new suite features a high-precision radiation accelerator that delivers targeted treatment to tumors, including stereotactic radiosurgery for brain tumors, with exceptional accuracy. Read more.

Joseph D’Orazio, MD, an addiction medicine specialist within Cooper University Health Care’s Center for Healing, its division of Addiction Medicine, participated in a panel discussion on recovery from substance use disorder hosted at WHYY last month.
