May Is National Osteoporosis Awareness Month

Enter a raffle for a chance to win a “Strong and Healthy Bones Prize Pack!”

Every year there are two million bone fractures due to osteoporosis and more than 50 percent of them can be prevented. Osteoporosis has been called the “silent disease” because there are often no symptoms until a fracture occurs.

Learn more about osteoporosis risk factors, prevention methods, diagnoses and treatment options. Visit the Cooper Bone and Joint Institute team outside the cafeteria on Wednesday, May 22, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and, while there, enter a raffle for a chance to win a “Strong and Healthy Bones Prize Pack.”

Remember, in most cases, osteoporosis can be prevented by eating foods high in calcium, getting plenty of exercise, not smoking and limiting alcohol use. It’s never too early to start taking care of your bones!
