Sunquest v8.1 Upgrade – Lab System Downtime – April 13 at 8PM

The purpose of this notice is to inform of a planned Lab System Downtime this Saturday. Please review the details below. Thank you!

DATE:  Saturday, April 13th 2019 @8PM

DURATION: Estimated 6-8 hour Downtime

DESCRIPTION:  Sunquest (Lab System) will be upgraded to version 8.1. During this time the lab system will be taken down and results will not be electronically transmitted from Sunquest to Epic. Collection Manager devices will also be upgraded during this time.

IMPACT: All clinical areas that order labs and view lab results are impacted. All Point of Care results (ex. Glucometer results) will not go into Epic until the lab system is back in service. Delays for results should be expected in testing due to manual processes required. Results will be available by phone.  STAT results and critical values will be called to the respective unit. The Hot Button launch from Epic to the Collection Manager application will be down until Monday 4/15. Epic will still be available to place orders and collect labs. Lab personnel will be assigned to the ED, ICU and TICU to facilitate communication of results during the downtime.

What you can do to help during the downtime:

·        Limit routine lab orders until the Lab System is back in service.

·        Delay sending AM labs until the Lab System is back in service.

·        Order only essential lab tests until the Lab System is back in service.

·        Avoid calls to the lab for non-urgent needs. If you need to call, please use 100-2500 (856-342-2500).

Communication will also be sent at the start and completion of this downtime.
