As an award-winning bowler and accomplished trumpet player who performed for a United States President and in several classic war-time movies, Robert McCleish, 68, thought he might have bowled his last strike. In the summer of 2009, a devastating medical diagnosis of pancreatic cancer left him in the care of the Cooper Cancer Institute.

Discussing his journey to back to health, Robert shares the comprehensive care he received that has allowed him to regain his strength and return to his passions in life.

Arlene’s Story: A Difficult Tumor Leads to CyberKnife Treatment


Arlene had a pain in her chest and, thinking it was a heart attack, immediately went to see her doctor. The results of her cardiac tests were normal, but the results of a CAT scan showed something different. There was a tumor on her sternum – the breast cancer she had thought was beaten 16 years before, was back.

As the tumor’s location could potentially make treatment difficult, her team at Cooper recommended CyberKnife treatment. Now, less than a year after her diagnosis, and undergoing chemotherapy and CyberKnife, she was able to travel again to Greece this summer and get back to her life.

Joel’s Story: Conquering Lung Cancer with CyberKnife Radiosurgery


Having cancer once is more than enough for some to bear, but by the third time Joel heard the words “it’s cancer,” he didn’t know if he could mentally and physically go through it again.

Lung cancer can be one of the most difficult cancers to treat. Thankfully, Joel’s wife had recently been reading about CyberKnife™ treatment in a local newspaper, which provided him with the hope he was desperately seeking. After having undergone two prior surgeries for cancer, the prospect of a non-invasive approach to tumor control offered by the CyberKnife™ was an easy choice.
