With a push toward focusing on resident wellness, GME had joined forces with CMSRU to create a program to do just that. Last month, the Wellness Committee put together a kick off event to promote this new initiative with spotlight on healthy eating, relaxation and physical well-being. Faculty, employees, residents and medical students participated by showcasing their musical talents with small musical ensembles, voice solos and even an a cappella group. Residents took yoga classes led by our multi-talented colleagues. They even had the opportunity to sign up for chair massages given by masseuses from Rizzeris. As the event would not be complete without food and snacks, stations were created with our chef who had ongoing demos making healthy meals that could be taste-tested. In addition, three handlers brought their therapy dogs, which was probably the most popular portion of the event. Because it would not be complete without a party favor, residents left with Cooper Wellness water bottles and pictures from the photo booth.
Cooper’s first Coffeehouse event was held on May 17. Residents and faculty from a number of departments performed vocal and instrumental pieces for their colleagues. It was a great opportunity to relax and catch up with friends and coworkers while enjoying great music and snacks!
