Save the Date- March 13th  for guest speaker

We have a guest scheduled to come speak to providers on “Exposure to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)” here at Cooper on Tuesday, March 13th at 6p in P1014. Rebecca Bryan, MSN, APN, NPC is the Director of the Wellness Center at Urban Promise and will be presenting this topic. CEUs will be awarded. This event is free but an RSVP, if attending, is requested to be sent to campbell-eileen@cooperhealth.edu. Please see below for a brief overview of Rebecca’s presentation.

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are traumatic childhood events which impact biopsychosocial health across the lifespan. ACEs contributes to seven out of ten leading causes of death in the United States, as well as high risk behaviors including substance abuse, physical inactivity and suicide attempts. It is vital for healthcare providers (HCPs) to practice trauma-informed universal precautions to guide best practice, but few are aware of ACEs, particularly HCPs who treat adult patients. This presentation introduces ACEs knowledge, reviews best practices for screening, and discusses ways for HCPs to support adult patients who have a history of ACEs.

I hope that you will be able to attend and learn more about this important topic.
