Physicians: Be Aware of Scam Awards Programs

Please be aware that direct marketing firms are aggressively targeting and soliciting our physicians for false awards programs.  If you receive a sales call to purchase a plaque or other award or to be included in their Top Doctor listing for a fee, this is most likely a scam.

As you may know, many local and regional magazines publish various Top Doctors issues and Cooper physicians are always well represented. Cooper’s Marketing Department provides an annual certificate to those physicians highlighted and the publication(s) in which they were featured.  There is never a cost involved.

Below is a partial list of some of companies we are aware of that should be avoided:

·         Showmark Media culls information from legitimate sources and attempts to sell plaques and other award displays.

·         America’s Best in Medicine – offers  award designations and listings for a participation fee

If you receive calls for any marketing or public relations opportunities, please Jill Lawlor at 856.382-6467 or Lawlor-jill@cooperhealth.edu or Wendy Marano at 856.382.6463 or marano-wendy@cooperhealth.edu.
