End of Women in Medicine month

As September and thus the Women in Medicine month is at an end, we wanted to close out with a thought-provoking TED talk by a transgender woman who poignantly describes the many ways in which true and deep empathy for the other underlies all our communications and interactions. Just as we can never truly understand exactly what it feels like to walk in another’s shoes, we are all called to try. And, just as this woman’s 93 year-old father said, he cannot completely understand but is willing to try. Addressing issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion can start with being sensitive, kind, and empathic to everyone we encounter on the journey.
