Recognizing Cooper’s Respiratory Therapists During National Respiratory Care Week

This week, we’re proud to recognize our team of Respiratory Therapists during National Respiratory Care Week, taking place October 25 through October 31, 2020.

In 2020, Respiratory Therapists (RTs) made headlines as patients, families, and communities learned more about the critical role of RTs on the health care team, and particularly in the fight against COVID-19. Because COVID-19 primarily affects a patient’s respiratory functions, placing critical COVID-19-positive patients in a prone position (lying horizontally, face down) allows for better lung expansion and improved outcomes. The skill and expertise of RTs is integral to the success of this labor-intensive intervention, which has become a mainstay in the care of many COVID-19 patients. RTs have also had to care for unprecedented numbers of ventilated patients throughout the pandemic, sometimes with limited resources.

At Cooper, our RTs have worked together to successfully care for thousands of patients throughout the pandemic. Their resiliency, commitment, and skill make them a vital part of the Cooper team. We are excited to celebrate them today and every day, and hope you’ll join us in thanking them for their part in keeping us all #CooperStrong!
