You’re Invited! September 9: Cooper GME Hosts Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Council First Annual Mixer

September 2, 2021 by Cooper University Health Care Leave a Comment

Hello Cooper Residents,

We would like to cordially invite all those interested to the Cooper University Hospital Resident Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Council First Annual Mixer!

In brief, the Cooper Resident Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) council was founded by residents at Cooper in the Spring of 2020 in response to the national outcry regarding the murder of George Floyd. We saw this as an opportunity to come together as a community of underrepresented minority physicians AND allies to begin to address issues that we and the community we serve in Camden face. Underrepresented minority physicians include, but are not limited to, Black/African-American, Hispanic, Native American, and LGBTQ physicians.

The event is opened to ALL RESIDENTS AND FELLOWS interested furthering a supportive environment for underrepresented minority physicians and promoting education about anti-racism and anti-discrimination in medicine.

The first step in us coming together is finally MEETING IN PERSON! We would love to do this in a social and informal setting outside of the hospital.

The mixer is being held at the Hilton Garden Inn, Camden Waterfront on Thursday, September 9, 2021, 5-7 p.m., Water View Patio Lounge. The venue has a wide covering. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved inside in the inside bar area.

Menu (paid for by GME!):
Philly Egg Rolls
Meat & Cheese Display
Vegetable Crudité
Pork & Veggie Dumplings

Beverages (guests’ own expense):
Beer – $4 for drafts
Beer – $5 for bottles
Wine – $7 per glass
Mixed Drinks – $8 per glass

PLEASE RSVP by emailing diversitycouncil@cooperhealth.edu as soon as possible and preferably by 09/07/2021. Please include your name, specialty, and year. If you would like to be included into an informal WhatsApp group we will be putting together for informal communication please include your phone number. It will only be used for this purpose.

Scrubs are fine as far as attire! Most will be heading over directly after leaving the hospital. We look forward to meeting all of you!
