On Monday, the fifty first-year medical students from Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU) trained approximately 150 middle, high school and college students from throughout the region to become community leaders in exercise, nutrition and wellness.

The Cooper Cancer Institute and Cooper Bone and Joint Institute have partnered to open the Orthopaedic Oncology Center, a multidisciplinary program dedicated to treating metastatic bone tumors, sarcomas and benign tumors of the bone and soft tissue. Under the direction of Richard D. Lackman, MD, FACS, who joined Cooper in July, this comprehensive program is the first of its kind in South Jersey.

You may have seen videos like this before on YouTube—hospital employees dancing to a popular song wearing bright pink gloves to raise awareness about breast cancer. They have become an online “viral” sensation viewed by millions of people throughout the world. The videos, part of a contest sponsored by Medline, are not only entertaining but they’re saving lives in the process. Cooper University Hospital is the only hospital in South Jersey competing in this year’s competition for a chance to win $10,000 towards cancer research.

70 on 70 Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper Fundraiser

The Jacobs Music Company staged a unique fundraiser for Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper with a “Perform-A-Thon” October 5-7 at their new location in Cherry Hill. The goal of the event was to get “70 on 70” – 70 musicians from all walks of life to perform throughout the weekend in an oversize tent on Route 70.
