Free Training Courses Available for Physicians in the Use of Buprenorphine/Medicated-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for Opioid Use Disorder

As part of a grant from the New Jersey Department of Human Services, Cooper University Health Care in conjunction with Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine is offering free training courses for physicians, NPs and PAs on the use of Buprenorphine for the treatment of opioid use disorder.  The course — which is half live and half online — is designed to meet the requirement for a buprenorphine waiver (X-waiver) certification under the DATA 2000 federal law. Cooper Honors Advanced Practice Nurse With “Military Employee of the Year” Award

Cooper University Health Care presented the 2019 Cooper Military Employee of the Year Award to advanced practice nurse Ella Hawk, a member of the hospital’s cardiothoracic surgery team. Camden Celebrates Opening of New Turf Field at KIPP Cooper Norcross Lanning Square Campus

Athletic Field Funded by $250,000 grant from the Philadelphia Eagles, the NFL Foundation and LISC and a matching $250,000 grant from The Cooper Foundation

Today, KIPP Cooper Norcross Academy (KCNA) celebrated the opening of a new turf field at its Lanning Square campus in Camden, New Jersey. Teachers, students, parents, community leaders, and NFL Foundation representatives gathered for a ribbon cutting at the new athletic field, which was installed thanks to a $250,000 grant from the Philadelphia Eagles through the National Football League Foundation Grassroots Program and a $250,000 matching grant from The Cooper Foundation. Special Delivery for Patients to Celebrate Mother’s Day

Just in time for Mother’s Day, volunteers with The Lauren Rose Albert Foundation/ Mothers Matter Program visited Cooper University Health Care on May 9 to bring cheer to mothers, grandmothers, and caregivers with a donation of special gift baskets.

Since 2001, the Lauren Rose Albert Foundation has reached out to mothers-in-need by donating thousands of gift baskets overflowing with personal health and beauty care products to numerous health care facilities, women’s shelters and crisis programs, child care centers, and facilities such as Ronald McDonald House and the Memorial Veterans Home during the week of Mother’s Day. Students Enjoy Hands-On Experiences During Cooper Career Day

On Thursday, April 25, 2019, about 60 students in the 5th through 12th grades came to Cooper University Health Care for Cooper Career Day, part of National Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day. Cooper Celebrates Volunteers, Honors “Volunteer of Year”

In observance of National Volunteer Month, Cooper University Health Care recognized the hundreds of dedicated men and women who donate their time and efforts to support the hospital’s mission, to serve, to heal, to educate.

A thank-you luncheon was held on April 9, 2019, to honor 715 volunteers that contributed a total of 56,832 hours of service in 2018.  Cooper volunteers are present throughout the organization – helping on nursing units, visiting patients, and performing a variety of tasks in the business departments. Camden Health & Athletic Association Hosts Baseball and Softball Skills and Drills Clinic for Camden Youth

The Camden Health & Athletic Association (CHAA) on Saturday hosted a free baseball and softball Skills & Drills Clinic for Camden children in partnership with the Philadelphia Phillies Jr. RBI and RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) Leagues.

More than 80 children participated in the clinic, which offered boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 16 the opportunity to learn more about the sport and practice fundamentals. Read more.

The Chairman of the Cooper Board of Trustees, George E. Norcross III, announced tonight that The Cooper Foundation raised $2.2 million at its ninth annual Red Hot Gala. This year’s proceeds support Cooper University Health Care’s commitment to improving the quality of life in the community and providing exceptional medical care and services for patients.

Soon-to-be Doctors “Meet their Match” at Special Event in Camden

At the stroke of noon today, 74 fourth-year medical students from Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU) tore open personalized envelopes to learn where they will begin the next phase of their medical education as resident physicians at hospitals around the nation.

The annual Match Day event is a rite of passage for graduating medical students, who will advance to a three- to seven-year residency program, getting hands-on experience in a specific discipline. Read more.

Camden Girl Scouts Visit MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper to Explore Careers in STEM

Through a partnership with The Cooper Foundation, the Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey (GSCSNJ), and Brimm Medical Arts High School in Camden, 20 Camden students visited MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper on Thursday, February 28, 2019, for a behind the scenes look at STEM-related careers.
