On September 18, 2014, following a year of formal training in “hospital clown studies,” Dr. Dee Zee (aka Diane Weiss of Woodstown, NJ) and Dr. Moosey Reindeer (aka Rita Shade of Cherry Hill, NJ) received their diplomas and joined the ranks of the Bumper T. Caring Clowns at Cooper University Hospital. The Caring Clowns spread cheer and goodwill to patients hospitalized at Cooper.

The Rutgers School of Nursing-Camden hosted a welcome reception in late August for 10 Cooper University Health Care employees chosen as the recipients of a new, grant-funded scholarship program.

On Saturday, September 6th, 2014, physicians and staff from around Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper and the Women’s and Children’s Institute at Cooper came together in Haddon Heights to support the 3rd annual “Run for Reading,” coordinated by Story Storks.

The Susan Marie Rupp Foundation, in conjunction with MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, has placed teal ribbons throughout the Camden and Voorhees campuses in recognition of Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month. The ribbons will remain throughout September in honor of cancer survivors and to create awareness about the prevention and early detection of women’s cancers.

It has been just over a year since the Camden County Metro Police Department was formed, and there has been a dramatic improvement inthe safety of our city. Camden Metro Police took to the streets, working with neighborhood residents on crime reduction, instilling a sense of security that has allowed children to play once again in parks and on sidewalks, and eliciting a positive response from those living in Camden.

Cooper University Hospital celebrated the opening of two new floors in the Roberts Pavilion, each with 30 private patient rooms. The two floors are designed to serve specific patient populations with Pavilion 8 serving a growing advanced-care surgery patient population and Pavilion 9 serving the Cooper Heart Institute for hospitalized heart patients.

Cooper’s strategy over the past few years has been to build strong patient-centered institutes for tertiary care for the complex health care needs of surgery, trauma, cancer and cardiac patients. Read more.

On August 6, 2014, young participants of the Cooper Learning Center Summer Reading Institute demonstrated their reading skills for parents, corporate sponsors and representatives from Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper during a special open house celebration.

AmeriHealth New Jersey and Cooper University Health Care announced they have finalized their agreement, which is transforming the delivery of health care in New Jersey. Under the transaction, Cooper University Health Care receives 20 percent minority interest in AmeriHealth New Jersey. The venture, announced last April, is unprecedented between a health insurer and hospital system in the state.
