The rise in the number of implanted devices has fueled an increasing demand for safe removal of infected, fractured, or dysfunctional pacer and defibrillator leads. To meet this growing demand, Cooper Electrophysiologists are now performing laser-assisted lead extraction. Laser technology has significantly improved the safety and efficacy of transvenous cardiac pacing lead removal, with outcomes closely linked to the expertise and experience of the practitioner. Under the leadership of John Andriulli, DO, Director of the Cooper Arrhythmia Device Program, Cooper is one of only three centers in the region with the staff, technology, and required cardiac surgical back-up to perform the procedures.
