Cooper Trauma Program – Region’s Leader in Adult and Pediatric Care

The Cooper Trauma Center continued its growth in 2010, providing advanced trauma care to over 2,700 adult and pediatric patients in Camden, Burlington, Gloucester, Salem, Cumberland, Atlantic, Cape May, Ocean and Mercer counties.

One of only three Level I programs in New Jersey, the Cooper Trauma Program provides expert specialized care that includes 24/7 access to consultation with a trauma surgeon, a dedicated pediatric treatment area with pediatric-trained faculty and staff, and a fully equipped resuscitation room adjacent to the helipad for immediate triage and treatment of unstable trauma patients. Air Two, a new helicopter service, has added a new dimension of service, with enhanced speed of transfers to the Trauma Center and flight crews trained in Level I trauma care.

“We are seeing an increase in major injuries occurring at home, and as a result of sports, as well as the ‘traditional traumas’— motor vehicle accidents and violence,” says Steven E. Ross, MD, FACS, FCCM, Head, Division of Trauma. “Our faculty and staff have great expertise that improves outcomes for all levels of trauma.”
