Special Grand Rounds on “Hedonic Overeating” to Be Held on August 23

All are invited to a special Grand Rounds featuring Mark S. Gold, MD, Donald Dizney Eminent Scholar, Distinguished Professor and Chair of Psychiatry at the University of Florida, and one of the foremost addiction experts in the world. It will be held on Friday, August 23, 2013, at noon, in room 409 in the Dorrance Building at Cooper University Hospital.

Dr. Gold will be lecturing on his newest area of research, “Hedonic Overeating as a Process Addiction,” Hedonic overeating is the overconsumption of highly palatable, pleasurable foods that activate brain signals in the same way as drugs of abuse. “His research is at both the basic science and clinical level and has incredible application in our new tasks of preventive care under Accountable Care,” says Andres J. Pumariega, MD, Chairman and Chief of the Department of Psychiatry.
