April Is Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month

All employees are invited to the following events throughout April to help raise awareness for child abuse and prevention and to celebrate safe and healthy families:

KICKOFF EVENT – PINWHEEL PLANTING ON THE FRONT LAWN

Please join Adrienne Kirby, PhD, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cooper University Health Care; John P. Sheridan, Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer of The Cooper Health System; and the Cooper CARE Team for a symbolic pinwheel planting event outside the main hospital entrance to kick off the month. Kathryn M. McCans, MD, Pediatric Emergency Medicine, will deliver a special dedication and the media will be invited.

Bring your lunch and join the conversation as Yahaira Marquez, PhD, and Aimee Sirois, LCSW, both of the CARES Institute at the Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine, share information about body safety tips for young children. The CARES Institute provides support and services to children and families who have experienced abuse.

Garden State Discovery Museum, Cherry Hill (free child care provided)
The “Building Blocks” parenting series is part of Cooper’s partnership with the Garden State Discovery Museum and is designed for parents of young children ages birth to 3. Anastasia Sokol, MA, and Meghan Kraenbring, MA, both of Cooper Behavioral Health, will discuss the importance of positive parenting, including specific tips for guiding even babies and young children.
