Hand-off of patient care continues to be a national patient safety priority. Effective communication during a patient hand-off is critical in ensuring quality care and safety. Patient bedside shift report has been found to increase patient involvement and satisfaction, boost nursing teamwork and accountability, and improve communication among caregivers. Cooper is committed to keeping our patients safe and employees engaged through the implementation of this important evidence-based strategy. Bedside shift report went live on June 24, 2014, throughout our clinical areas.
