Employees Must Complete Mandatory Annual Compliance, HIPAA and Information Assurance Education by December 13, 2015

As an organization, Cooper is entrusted with the highest levels of responsibility—for our patients’ lives and safety, our community’s health and the proper use of taxpayer funds. To fulfill this trust, Cooper is obligated to comply with laws and regulations aimed at ensuring that health care organizations exercise the highest standards of care and integrity in meeting their responsibilities. As members of the Cooper team, we each have personal responsibility to do our part in this effort.

Each fall, Cooper team members are provided with mandatory compliance education that includes the most up-to-date legal and ethical requirements affecting our jobs and Cooper. You will receive an email tomorrow (Tuesday, October 13, 2015) with your 2015 Cooper Learning Network (CLN) assignments.

The following modules must be completed no later than December 13, 2015:

  • Corporate Compliance Annual 2015.
  • Compliance HIPAA Annual 2015.
  • Compliance Information Assurance Annual 2015.

Please Note:
Employees who started at Cooper after January 1, 2015, will not receive any of these assignments, as they fulfilled their 2015 requirements at their time of hire.

Because of the importance of this education, employees who do not comply by the December 13, 2015, due date will face the following consequences, as outlined in our compliance education policy 1.303 – Mandatory Compliance Education v.1.

  • Employees not completing their assignments by the 60-day due date will be suspended for up to seven days without pay, until their assignments are completed.
  • Employees not completing their assignments by the eighth day following their due date will be terminated.

For questions about Mandatory Compliance education, contact Chief Compliance Officer Angela Melillo at 856.536.1303 or Chief Information Assurance and Privacy Officer Phil Curran, at curran-philip@cooperhealth.edu. For questions concerning the CLN, or technical assistance, please contact the CLN staff at cooperLearningNetwork@CooperHealth.edu.

We appreciate all you do to make Cooper one team with one purpose.

Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.
