Sepsis is a life-threatening complication from an infection. Anyone can get sepsis from any type of infection, even a minor infection. According to the CDC, 80 percent of sepsis cases occur outside of the hospital setting.
September is Sepsis Awareness Month. You can save a life by recognizing the signs of sepsis, which include:
• High fever.
• Chills or severe shaking.
• Fast heart rate or breathing rate.
• Confusion.
• Feeling worse than normal.
