Specialty services include intensive care for infants and children, pediatric emergency care, neonatal and pediatric transport, and pediatric specialty clinics.

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) provides comprehensive, family-oriented care for all young patients to optimize health and well-being. The department provides clinical intervention to the pediatric patient requiring intensive care or advanced pediatric (step down) care, while simultaneously supporting patients and families through the Intensive Care experience. Services are available for pediatric patients with the most acute medical requirements, including those who require continuous monitoring such as life support therapy, invasive monitoring, and other critical care measures.

Registered Nurses – Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
Full-time and part-time positions are available.

The registered nurse (RN) is a professional care-giver who, as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team, assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame, and who supervises and provides care to these patients utilizing the nursing process including the therapeutic use of self. The RN follows established policies and procedures. The RN communicates openly with internal customers and supervisors; provides excellent customer service; and interfaces well with all levels of staff, management, and physicians. The RN applies Cooper core values, and fulfills other duties as required. The RN evaluates patients, implements and documents nursing care, and assists physicians during examinations and procedures. The RN performs various patient tests and administers medications utilizing the nursing process. The RN promotes patients’ independence by establishing patient care goals and teaching patients and families to understand conditions, medications, and self-care skills.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing required.
  • BSN preferred.
  • BLS required, PALS desirable.
  • Current NJ-RN license required.
  • 1-2 years PICU experience required.
