September Is Sepsis Awareness Month

The Global Sepsis Alliance has developed a collaborative effort to raise awareness on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, as World Sepsis Day.

September is Sepsis Awareness Month. Sepsis is the body’s overwhelming and life-threatening response to infection. It is treatable, especially with early recognition and care. Every two minutes someone dies from sepsis in the U.S. – that’s more than from prostate cancer, breast cancer, and AIDS combined.  Events are being held around the world throughout the month of September to educate the public and health care providers about the incidence, severity, and outcomes of sepsis patients. You can save a life just by knowing the signs and symptoms of sepsis.
