Pediatric Trauma Survivors and Their Families Celebrate Life at Super Hero-Themed Reunion

Childhood trauma survivors and their families enjoyed a super hero–themed day of fun with their families and the doctors and nurses who cared for them in a celebration of life reunion event this past Saturday. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, unintentional accidents are the leading cause of death in young children and adolescents in the United States.

Stephanie Connors, MBA, BSN, NEA-BC, Senior Executive Vice President, Hospital Chief Operating Officer and System Chief Nursing Officer, and Nicole Fox, MD, Medical Director of Cooper’s Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, welcomed guests, and Cooper patient Anthony Marquez told his personal story of tragedy and triumph. Guests were treated to lunch and a wide range of activities that included face painting, crafting, pet therapy, and magic tricks. This is the fourth year that Cooper Trauma has held this event, which is accomplished with incredible teamwork and a love and appreciation for the young patients who come to Cooper’s Pediatric Trauma Center.
