October Is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Each year, in addition to lighting the exterior of Cooper University Hospital in pink, we encourage Cooper University Health Care employees to wear pink to help us raise awareness of the disease and to show support for those who are battling breast cancer.

On Thursday, October 26, 2017, all Cooper employees are encouraged to wear pink. On this day only, we allow pink scrub tops to be worn.

Below are a few facts about breast cancer:

  • Nearly one in eight U.S. women develops breast cancer in her lifetime.
  • About 254,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in 2017.
  • Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women.
  • Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among women.
  • Screening mammography is the best way to catch breast cancer early, in its most treatable stages.

Show your support for making breast cancer history. Wear pink on Thursday, October 26, 2017!
