The Quarter 2 Good Catch winner is Dan Komis, MRI Technologist
This patient was documented in EPIC to have a Watchman device, which is MRI compatible. The MRI technologist looked at the patient’s chest X-ray and noticed that the positioning wasn’t a usual place for that device. Upon further investigation, it was discovered to be a Micra trans-catheter pacemaker, which needs to be put in MRI-safe mode by a Medtronic rep before scanning..
If this hadn’t been caught by Dan, this patient could have been scanned and had his pacemaker disabled, causing serious harm. Congrats, Dan!
