Leadership Announcement

We are pleased to announce that Kathy Devine and Bob Hockel, who have been working as interim Chief Nursing Officer and interim Vice President of Hospital Operations Officer, have been appointed to their respective roles on a permanent basis.

Kathy Devine, RN, DrNP, will serve as Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer. She will be responsible for professional nursing practice across the continuum of care to ensure safety, service, and quality outcomes for our diverse patient population. In addition, Kathy will have administrative and operational leadership responsibility for Nursing and Patient Care Services.

Kathy has held various leadership positions during her 15-year tenure at Cooper. Prior to her current role, she served as Executive Director for the Centers of Urgent and Emergent Services and Hospital-Based Services and managed a comprehensive range of clinical programs. As a professional nurse, she has a diverse clinical background with experiences in adult and pediatric critical care nursing, emergency and trauma nursing, as well as flight nursing. She obtained her Masters in Nursing and Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Drexel University.

Robert Hockel, MBA, FACHE, will serve as Senior Vice President of Operations. He will direct our hospital outpatient and inpatient operations, including radiology services, laboratory, pharmacy, food and nutrition, environmental services, retail services, security, parking, plant operations and maintenance, and facilities construction and planning.

Bob is a six-sigma green belt who brings more than 28 years of leadership experience to his new role. He also has 12 years of experience in the service industry with roles at Marriott International and Sodexo where he built teams dedicated to quality service and customer satisfaction. Prior to joining Cooper, he served in a number of senior leadership roles at Virtua Health, including Vice President of Operations and Vice President and Site Administrator of Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly, and Board President of the Memorial Ambulatory Surgery Center.

Bob is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and a member of the Healthcare Leadership Network of the Delaware Valley. Bob has also served as a board member for the Greater Camden Partnership, Cooper’s Ferry Partnership, and also served as a member of the Camden Higher Education and Health Care Task Force.

Bob attended Penn State University and completed his degree in business management at the University of Phoenix, and earned an MBA from Saint Joseph’s University.
