To prepare for our upgrade to Epic 2018 on Sunday, June 2, 2019, non-upgrade related changes to Epic will be “frozen” from May 6 to June 17, 2019 (approximately four weeks before and two weeks after the upgrade). A build freeze allows us to focus on preparing for the upgrade and ensures that all testing completed thus far remains valid.
What does it mean for me?
- Submit your change requests as normal. Your Epic team will review the requests after the upgrade and support period are complete.
- The following items are exceptions to the build freeze and will be processed as normal:
- Fixes to identified defects from User Acceptance Testing (does not include enhancement requests or non-critical defects unrelated to the workflow or feature being tested) (until May 17, 2019).
- Build and testing for specific new departments already identified (until May 17, 2019).
- Beacon protocol requests (until May 17, 2019).
- Critical changes to an individual user’s security (excludes template changes) (until May 24, 2019).
- Medication (ERX) updates (until May 24, 2019).
- Provider master file (SER) critical changes (until May 31, 2019).
If you have a situation that is urgent, contact your Epic IT partner. They will assist you in completing an emergency exception request form. These requests will be evaluated by IT leadership and a VP or above from the owning business area. Please avoid exception requests unless absolutely necessary, because changes during this period add significant risk to the upgrade.
