Celebrating National Nurses Week—COVID-19 Style

In recognition of National Nurses Week, Cooper University Health Care honors the committed, passionate nurses who provide expert care to our patients and their families. Now, more than ever, your dedication and hard work are crucial in supporting the health of our community and in the lives of those you care for.

With the postponement of the Nursing Excellence Awards ceremony and the challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic, leadership has planned a variety of socially responsible activities to celebrate this special week. You can take part in a continuing education opportunity via webinar, enjoy the many social media posts from nursing leaders and nurse excellence award winners, and view the Journey to Nursing Excellence poster summarizing recent nursing activities and the vision for Cooper nursing as we continue through 2020 and the future.

Thank you for all you do!

Title: Everyday Resilience – What’s Getting You Through?

Guest Speaker: Rebecca Hilgen Bryan, DNP, AGPCNPC, APN

Rebecca Bryan, DNP, is the Director of Professional Nursing Development at Rutgers University, Camden. Her passion is to raise inter-professional awareness about trauma-informed approaches to care, particularly about the impact of childhood adversity on adult health and well-being. In 2012, she founded the Urban Promise Wellness Center in Camden, NJ, with evidence-based initiatives grounded in adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) research. She is certified in trauma-informed care through Lakeside Global Institute. Dr. Bryan is also the owner of Rebecca Bryan Consulting LLC, where she blogs regularly about the science generated by ACEs research, and is currently a trainer for Health Federation of Philadelphia and Lakeside Global Institute. She has 20 years of experience working in the primary care setting, has been an adjunct faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania, and works with pastors at Presbyterian Credo wellness conferences.

Objective: By the end of this session, participants will feel affirmed in their current resilience, increase self-awareness of their stress level while working during the pandemic, and add to their resilience “toolbox” additional practices that help with self-regulation of daily stress.

Description: Nurses are resilient human beings, especially those working on the frontline of the COVID-19 pandemic. Can you name what’s getting you through? This session will help participants understand their strengths, increase self-awareness of the ways stress might be showing up in your body and mind, and provide five everyday resilience practices that will add tools to your resilience toolbox.
