New Cardiac Program Screens and Treats Patients With Genetic Aortic Disease

Douglas M. Richter, MD

Douglas M. Richter, MD, FACC, clinical cardiologist at Cooper, has launched a Genetically Mediated Aortic Disease (GMAD) Clinic for patients with a suspected or diagnosed genetic aortic disease. Patients with a confirmed diagnosis of GMAD are susceptible to aortic aneurysm and dissection, which is often fatal. Early diagnosis and treatment of patients with genetic aortic disease such as Marfan syndrome and vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (vEDS) can save lives.

The GMAD Clinic is located in the Cooper Specialty Care at Cherry Hill. Dr. Richter is supported by specialists in aortic surgery, genetics, and others. Primary care physicians and cardiologists are welcome to refer patients with known or suspected genetic aortic disease to the GMAD program by calling 856.938.2052.
