Maria Metzler, RN, at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, is The DAISY Award winner for August 2021.
Maria’s dedication to Cooper Nursing and the extraordinary care she provided to our Cooper patients earned her the following accolades:
“I found out in May 2021 I have cervical cancer after three years of battling my husband’s colorectal cancer. I was quite overwhelmed with another cancer to fight. My first chemo treatment I was nervous and scared but Maria made it much better. She is a compassionate person and efficient. She helped me with scheduling and made sure I received extra hydration and nausea meds after having issues my first week; she was on top of every question or need I had. She’s an amazing patient advocate. You can see this isn’t just a job for her. I am on my fifth treatment today and I don’t think I would have gotten through this as easily with such a positive mindset without her. She is amazing.”
